The new arrangement gave the cook much more usable counter space in addition to appliances that would work with her culinary skills. A large island and an opening to the living area provided greater ability to entertain guests. In addition an 8’ x 10’ offset in the garage was closed in to create a mudroom.
Failing thermofoil doors led to this kitchen makeover. New maple door and drawer fronts with dovetail boxes were the start of the modifications
This kitchen was enlarged by moving the adjacent laundry to the second floor. The expanded kitchen gave us opportunity to achieve all the Owner's wish list items.
Open floor plans are generally desirable, but not when it comes to the bathroom. The first priority in the new design was to close this master bathroom off from the bedroom and provide a wall for privacy and to mount a large screen TV.
This remodeled bathroom’s design improved its looks, function and storage capacity. The added luxury features create a spa-like environment, which is ideal for relaxing in the master bathroom. This luxurious space was created with the addition of a therapeutic tub and a multi-function steam shower system that features both wall and ceiling mounted showerheads and LED chromotherapy lighting. Additionally, the custom His and Hers closets and walk-in linen closet greatly improved the storage space.
When we first approached this bathroom, we realized to make it more functional, we had to increase the size. After removing and rearranging the bathroom walls, the space really opened up. We also widened the closet so it’s truly a walk-in now, doubled the size of the shower, installed His and Hers vanities and more.
While finishing the basement can present challenges such as low ceilings, structural beams, columns, and low pipes, it also has the advantage of being an existing enclosed structure greatly reducing the cost of adding living space.
Whether you call it a porch, stoop, deck, Florida room or sunroom, it should provide you with a wonderful place to retreat and enjoy the view. The photos you see here are just a few of the variations Harbour Towne Construction has built over the last 40 years.
